Robert Cauble | Photography

Robert Cauble (b. 1981), originally from Honolulu, has in the past years arrived back at the photographic medium, after 20 years of creating moving images.  After his studies in painting and photography at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Robert explored the intersection of art and activism through video art.  His work in the medium has been shown at Institute of Contemporary Arts (London), Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia (Madrid), International Film Festival Rotterdam (Rotterdam), amongst many other institutions.  More recently, he has found expression through visual storytelling, contributing as a cinematographer on advertisements and films, including the recent Netflix Studios film ‘Dear David’.

In his photographic works, Robert borrows from cinematic visual language and its play between images in the creation of evocative moods.  A similar tension with photographic depth and a painterly flattering of space is also often employed in capturing moments that “quicken the heart.”
